Network Operation Center

Slawall Consoles and Visionmaster Viedeo Wall

In 2009, Americon was contracted to design, manufacture and commission four rooms at the newly formed Hawaiian Telcom Communications Company in Honolulu, Hawaii. HTC, formerly GTE, supplies phone and internet to the Hawaiian chain and as far into the Pacific as Guam. The four large rooms, which constituted an entire floor, included a network operations center, a call center, a conference room and a design lab.

For this study, we are concentrating on the Network Operations Center. The NOC consists of Forty-four coould roll his or her personal storage pedestal directly to the workstation from either the garages under the video wall or ones that were strategically placed on the sides or in the back of the room.. We designed the room as an amphitheatre. The floor were tiered to maximize the viewing angles and to make sure that line of sight was not blocked by heads from ther lower rows.

President Bill Farah and director Jim LaClair worked side by side to facilitate the design for each room with Mr. Farah managing the project from inception to conclusion. Americon headed weekly construction meetings which included architects and design teams, hard construction contractors, along with data, phone, audiovisual and electrical contractors.

The video wall included garages for mobile storage pedestals and additional shelving behind tinted glass doors. Although complete access to the displays could be achieved from the front, this unique set up was built into the face of the equipment room so that all maintenance could easily be done from the rear.
